Work to Begin July 18th

The Glen Street Resurfacing project is scheduled to start the week of July 18th.

As previously mentioned in earlier posts, the project was delayed due to the potential IDOT shut-down if a budget bill was not passed by the state legislature. A budget bill was passed at the last moment; however, the Village and contractor did want to start until the budget was officially passed and were notified by IDOT to proceed with the project. The Village also wanted to ensure the contractor had an updated scheduled to complete the project in a timely manner prior to starting.

The contractor will begin saw-cutting the existing concrete curb & gutter and sidewalks to be replaced starting the week of July 11th, with more significant saw-cutting to be performed the week of July 18th.

The contractor will begin concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk removal and replacement along Chestnut Avenue and Patriot Blvd starting later in the week of July 18th or the week of July 25th.

State Budget Bill Passed for Transportation Funding. Schedule for Work to Begin being Finalized

As you may have heard in the news, the state government passed a temporary budget bill to allow for construction projects to continue for the next 12 months.

This is good news because the Glen Street Resurfacing project will move forward this year. However, due to the anticipated shut-down and per direction from IDOT, many of the upfront tasks to get prepared for a project of this size were put on hold.

The Village is currently working with the contractor to develop a new schedule for completing the work. As soon as we know more, additional information will be provided.

Please be on the look-out for additional Blog Posts regarding the start of construction. Also, the message boards along the project site will be updated with the new project start dates.

Thanks again for all your patience and understanding as we were waiting to determine how the state legislature was going to move forward with the potential of not having a passed budget bill.
